Norwegian Red for Crossbreeding is gaining momentum in the States and Canada

The World Ag Expo in Tulare, California proved to be great venue for showcasing «Norwegian Red for Superior Crossbreeding.»

This February 9 to 11, 2010 expo drew in a crowd of 100,000 again this year in the U.S.A.’s largest dairy state (California) and many of the attendees were from dairies, had dairy roots or worked for industries allied to the dairy industry.  Four Geno Global employees manned this booth including Tor Arne Sletmoen, the Managing Director of Geno Global from Norway and the three members of the North American Geno Global team: technical advisor Dr. Ted Burnside, technical advisor Dr. Gary Rogers and Joan Cooper, data analyst and technical support.

The fact that both Semex and ABS Global are distributing Norwegian Red semen definitely drew in more visitors to the Geno Global booth this year.  Over 40 producers filled out information sheets to receive a follow-up call from a Geno Global, Semex or ABS employee to hear more about the Norwegian Red sires offered.

One producer commented that he «loves his Norwegian Red crossbred calves.»  Others were looking for a third breed to use for crossing and another informed us that he had gotten some Norwegian Red semen as a gift from an uncle.  Other comments we heard included, «I like crossbreds,» and «I need improved health.»

This was three days well spent for four members of the Geno Global team who sensed from attendees that crossbreeding is gaining momentum in the States and in Canada.
