Norwegian Red in China successfully kicked off
As a part of an initial trial, 13 large farms in Inner Mongolia, Beijing and Shanghai-area started inseminations with Norwegian Red (NRF) in May. We see superior fertility results with the NRF semen.
– Trials in China are according to plan, says Fiona Yin, Geno China. 13 big farms in Inner Mongolia, Beijing and Shanghai-area started inseminations in May. First crossbreed calves will be born in February 2010.
In Shanghai, the best farm in the south is Kungshan Xianggyang Dairy Co. with 1.400 heads and average yield of 9.590 kg. This farm is privately owned by Mr. Song, our semen distributor in China.
The largest trial farm in the north is Inner Mongolia Mengniu Australian International Demonstration Farm with 12.300 heads and average yield of 9.500kg. NRF is the only crossbreed in this herd.
Geno China has now visited most of the trial farms and the preliminary results regarding conception rates confirm results from international trials over the last years. NRF is significantly higher than comparable rate of Holstein.
