Norwegian Red (NRF) for the Chinese market
On May the 20th a delegation from Shanghai Dairy Association visited Geno Global. The meeting took place at the AI-station at Store Ree where the Chinese group also viewed some Norwegian Red (NRF) elite sires.
They also visited Geno's test station for young NRF bulls and as a farmer who has a herd of Norwegian Red cows.
During the meeting there were good discussions about the possibilities for the Norwegian Red breed in China. Here, as in many countries with Holstein cows, they have some challenges with health and fertility. The good breeding program in Norway coupled with the functional and fertile NRF cow is therefore very interesting for the Chinese market.
The first shipment of NRF semen was sent to China in April. This shipment is dedicated for trials in various herds in China.
